The Vision 2020 Action Plan was presented back to the community on January 29, 2001 for implementation. The Vision for the future of Greater Bakersfield, and the Action Plan to accomplish the Vision, were developed by the residents of the community through an open, inclusive, and collaborative process that involved over 13,000 residents and 400 volunteers.Over the past nine months, governmental and educational institutions, businesses, non-profit organizations, and individual citizens have been working on the strategies and action items contained in the Action Plan. The Vision 2020 organization has been monitoring the progress and championing the successes through the continuation of volunteer Vision Forces. Following is an overview of the progress that has been made in each of the key elements of the Vision and Action Plan.
